Location

The apartment is between Paralimni and Protaras in the south east corner of Cyprus. It is a fantastic location for walking, culture and visiting the many nearby places of interest.

Only 45 minutes drive from Larnaca airport, it is very near the coast, with a choice of superb beaches within a short drive. Kapparis, Protaras, Ayia Napa (famous for its summer partying), the abandoned city of Famagusta and ancient Salamis are near by.

The central Troudos mountains can be visited for a day trip, or winter skiing.

The apartment has a folder of brochures for places to go, maps, cycle routes and local information.

The currency is the Euro. Electic sockets are UK-style 3 pins, so no need for converters.

Cars are right hand drive. New cars are very expensive, due to import duties, so the average age of a Cyprus car is old. Hire cars are typically much older than you would get elsewhere.

The coast.

Our apartment is near some of the best beaches in Cyprus.

The picture shows Konnos Bay. This is a typical rocky cove, but there are also several sandy beaches in easy reach.

The nearest beach is Firemans Bay, with Fig Tree, Green and Konnos Bay beaches a short drive away.

Facilities in Paralimni

Paralimni is a lively residential area that is not one of the main tourist areas. As a result the shops and restaurants are open year round. A particular feature is a pretty cobbled main square, with cafes, small shops and boutiques. The tourist centres of Protaris and Ayia Napa are a short drive away, but much of their facilities close down for the winter.  There are frequent bus services from the town, which run throughout the year.

The apartment is a great location for walking holidays. The south coastal path starts nearby. There are several treking routes nearby, round the coast or into the interior. There are also bike trails for the cyclist, with cycle hire available nearby. Scuba divers are well catered for - the nearest centre is Just Scuba at Pernera. They offer introductory dives for the beginner and a range of courses. There are many historic sites, beautiful churches, galleries and museums.

Families have a huge choice of activities - there is Waterworld. a huge waterpark, at Agia Napa (on the main bus route), a nearby aquarium, a large soft play area in Paralimni, several childrens playgrounds and, of course, many sandy beaches on sheltered coves. The beaches are only crowded in the peak summer season, so you have the pick of the beaches out of season. There are numerous boat trips (not winter) from nearby harbours. We think the best is Ayia Trias III from Pernera.  A new beach area has recently been opened at Ayia Triada, nearby.

Paralimni has a large Carrefour, a Lidl and two other large supermarkets. There is a Marks & Spencers, and a large number of shops, banks, cafes, restaurants and take-aways.

Guests are able to use a well equipped gym nearby, for a daily/weekly fee.
